Job summary

Latrobe City Council is seeking a Creative Community Engagement & Placemaking Specialist to shape arts, culture and community connections across Gippsland venues and public spaces.

Based in Traralgon, you’ll drive audience development, partnerships with artists and First Nations communities, and lead inclusive placemaking initiatives that activate public spaces and cultural programs.

Qualifications

  • Experience delivering creative community engagement, cultural programming, placemaking initiatives or public art projects that strengthen community connection.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to build effective partnerships across community groups, artists, schools, businesses and First Nations communities.
  • Demonstrated project management experience, including planning, budgeting, grant management, reporting and delivering successful outcomes.

Full Time | Permanent | Band 6: $100,162.92 - $108,630.60

We’re looking for a Creative Community Engagement & Placemaking Specialist to join our Creative Venues and Libraries team. In this role, you’ll help shape how people connect with arts, culture and community across Latrobe City by developing innovative programs, activating public spaces and fostering meaningful community participation.

You are a creative and community-minded professional who is passionate about the role arts, culture and placemaking play in creating vibrant and connected communities. You enjoy bringing people together, building strong relationships and turning ideas into engaging experiences that have a positive impact. With experience managing projects and working with diverse stakeholders, you thrive in collaborative environments and are excited by the opportunity to shape cultural experiences across Latrobe City.

Key Selection Criteria
  • Tertiary qualification in Arts Management, Cultural Development, Community Engagement, Urban Planning or a related field, or substantial relevant experience.
  • Experience delivering creative community engagement, cultural programming, placemaking initiatives or public art projects that strengthen community connection.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to build effective partnerships across community groups, artists, schools, businesses and First Nations communities.
  • Demonstrated project management experience, including planning, budgeting, grant management, reporting and delivering successful outcomes.
