Job summary

Wangaratta District Specialist School seeks a dedicated classroom teacher to deliver targeted programs for students aged 5–18 with diverse needs. You will plan and implement high-quality literacy and numeracy instruction, monitor progress, and adapt strategies to maximise student growth.

You will collaborate with families, carers, specialists and the community, while engaging in ongoing professional learning to uphold department values and drive school improvement.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum, including ability to teach literacy and numeracy skills.
• Ability to plan high-impact teaching strategies and evaluate learning growth.
• Experience in monitoring and assessing student learning and using data to inform teaching.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with students, parents, colleagues and the wider community.
• Demonstrated commitment to Department values and ongoing professional learning.

Responsibilities

• Direct teaching of groups and individual students to achieve specific outcomes.
• Contribute to development, implementation and evaluation of curriculum programs.
• Undertake additional classroom and organisational duties as directed by the principal.
• Participate in parent/teacher meetings, staff meetings, camps and excursions.
• Engage in professional learning and reflective practice to continually improve teaching quality.
