Job summary

DRA Global Limited invites applications for a hands-on mobile crane operator based onsite at Mt Carlton. You will safely operate cranes, assist maintenance crews, and support lifting activities within a mining processing plant.

Role is a max term full-time contract on an 8/6 dayshift roster, DIDO/BIBO from Townsville region. Accommodation and meals are supplied while on site.

Qualifications

• Must hold a C6 Slewing Mobile Crane High Risk Work Licence (up to 60 tonnes).
• Demonstrated experience operating mobile cranes in mining or heavy industry.
• Solid knowledge of safe lifting practices and crane operations.
• Experience around fixed plant and heavy equipment.
• Willingness to undertake Trade Assistant duties when crane work is not required.
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team and comply with site procedures.

• Safely operating mobile cranes for planned, breakdown and shutdown maintenance activities.
• Performing lifts in accordance with site procedures and lift plans.
• Conducting pre-start inspections of crane equipment and checks.
• Assessing lift requirements and site hazards before starting work.
• Coordinate lifting with riggers, doggers, trades and supervisors.
• Assist with setup and pack-down of lifting equipment and work areas.
• Support maintenance trades when crane work is not required.
• Assist with general maintenance, tooling, materials handling and area prep.

About the role

Based onsite at Mt Carlton, This is a varied, hands‑on role responsible for safely operating mobile cranes to support maintenance activities across the processing plant. When crane operations are not required, you will support our maintenance teams with day‑to‑day activities.

This role will be offered on a Max Term Full Time Contract and will see you work a 8/6 Roster Dayshift Only. This role will be DIDO/BIBO from the Townsville Region. Accommodation and Meals are supplied whilst on site.

Key Duties will include

• Safely operating mobile cranes for planned, breakdown and shutdown maintenance activities
• Performing lifts in accordance with site procedures, lift plans and relevant safety requirements
• Conducting pre‑start inspections and routine checks of crane equipment
• Assessing lift requirements, site conditions and potential hazards prior to commencing work
• Working closely with riggers, doggers, tradespeople and supervisors to safely coordinate lifting activities
• Assisting with the setup and pack‑down of lifting equipment and work areas
• Supporting maintenance trades as a trades assistant when crane operations are not required
• Assisting with general maintenance, tooling, materials handling and preparation of work areas

To be successful, you will have:

• Current C6 – Slewing Mobile Crane High Risk Work Licence (up to 60 tonnes) – essential
• Demonstrated experience operating mobile cranes in mining, mineral processing, construction or heavy industry
• Sound knowledge of safe lifting practices and crane operations
• Experience working around fixed plant and heavy equipment
• Willingness to undertake Trade Assistant duties when crane work is not required
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Right to Work in Australia – Essential
