Job summary

GCMarine seeks a self-motivated Coxswain to operate vessels and push our piling barge to sites in the Bundaberg region. You will work in a two-person team to assist an experienced excavator operator with pile installation, while maintaining equipment and supporting pontoon projects.

Applicants should have 3+ years commercial vessel experience and 1–2 years marine piling exposure. Australian citizenship is required; attractive remuneration and growth within a dynamic marine brand are offered.

Qualifications

• Mechanical minded for maintenance and minor repairs.
• Ability to read and understand plans for piles and pontoons.
• Current and valid Driver's Licence.

Responsibilities

• Operate vessels of various sizes and push piling barge to site.
• Assist an experienced excavator operator in pile installation.
• Maintain vessels and piling barge for safety and efficiency.
• Assist with installation of abutment blocks, headstocks, gangways and pontoons.
• Coordinate onsite relocation with GCMarine management.

Job description

We are looking for a self-motivated, experienced, and passionate Coxswain to work as a Piling Barge Operator to assist with our expanding workload in the Bundaberg region!

The position…

You will be required to operate vessels of various sizes whilst \"pushing\" our piling barge/s to site and then maneuverer them into position for piling work. Working as part of a two (2) person team to assist an experienced excavator operator to install various type of piles is fundamental to this role. Additionally, maintaining the vessels and / or piling barge to ensure safe, efficient and effective operations will also be a requirement of the job. Once the marine piles are installed, you will be required to assist with the installation of the concrete abutment blocks, headstocks, gangways and pontoons for these projects.

A minimum of 3 years Commercial Vessels driving AND 1-2 years of marine piling or pile installation experience is preferred for this position.

Take charge of and operate vessels, specifically relating to piling work or pontoon installation, with a focus on workplace health and safety guidelines

Installation of piles for marina projects predominately in the Bundaberg region but from time to time further afield including interstate

Piles will primarily consist of steel tube, spun concrete, timber and cast in-situ concrete PVC

Installation of HDPE piles sleeves to be installed over steel or concrete piles

Liaise with contractors and GCMarine management to co-ordinate onsite and relocation activities

Current & valid Drivers License

Enthusiasm, experience, and great communication working as part of a team

Confidence in your ability to move work boats and barges within the busy waterways from location to location

First-rate communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at varying levels

Self-motivated with an excellent interpersonal and professional skills

The ability to get yourself to work and / or the job site on time
