Job description

Our client is an international technology group serving customers across industries such as surveying, construction, infrastructure and mining. Its businesses provide solutions that help customers measure, position and manage assets and operations.

The organisation is seeking a commercially minded Country Manager to bring its businesses together across Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific. This is a broad leadership role focused on market performance, customer and partner relationships, operational effectiveness and strong local governance.

The opportunity

You will translate divisional priorities into a coherent country agenda, strengthen collaboration across business lines and ensure that commercial opportunities and performance issues receive the right attention.

The role works through influence in a matrix environment. Divisional leaders retain accountability for their own strategies and P&Ls; you will provide the integrated country perspective, challenge performance constructively and drive agreed actions across the local organisation.

A significant part of the role will be leading strategic customer and distribution-partner relationships in a complex, partner-led market. You will bring commercial clarity to these relationships, establish shared expectations and address performance or customer issues with sound judgement.

What you will do
  • Develop and execute an integrated country plan that reflects market potential, customer needs, competitive dynamics and divisional priorities.
  • Lead regular business reviews, bringing together orders, revenue, pipeline, forecasts, margins and corrective actions.
  • Identify performance gaps and ensure clear actions, owners and follow-up.
  • Strengthen strategic customer, distributor and channel relationships, clarifying account ownership, communication and escalation routes.
  • Coordinate major opportunities, tenders and customer escalations across business lines.
  • Improve operational effectiveness across service, customer care and back-office activities, including service performance and quote-to-cash processes.
  • Monitor working capital, inventory, operating costs, service costs and cost recovery, and address issues with the relevant leaders.
  • Support effective local governance across legal, regulatory, compliance, quality, safety and audit matters.
  • Shape local organisational capability and leadership alignment in partnership with divisional leaders and People & Culture.
  • Build a collaborative, customer-focused culture and represent local market insight in regional and divisional planning.
What you will bring
  • Substantial leadership experience in country management, general management, commercial leadership or a comparable operational role.
  • A strong track record in commercial performance, including the ability to understand and act on revenue, margin, cost, working-capital and operational drivers.
  • Experience in geospatial, surveying, construction, infrastructure, mining or related industrial technology markets.
  • Experience leading strategic distributors, channel partners or other complex B2B relationships.
  • The judgement to balance trusted relationships with clear expectations, accountability and constructive challenge.
  • Experience leading across functions or business units in a matrix organisation, including where teams do not report directly to you.
  • A customer-focused approach and sound understanding of sales, service and operational delivery.
  • Experience improving business processes and turning strategy into measurable local execution.
  • Good understanding of entity governance, risk and compliance in a commercial environment.
  • Strong communication, negotiation and stakeholder-alignment skills.
  • Relevant professional experience and qualifications; fluent English. Additional regional languages are an advantage.
Why consider this role?

You will have the opportunity to shape how an international technology business works across a strategically important and diverse region. The role combines commercial leadership, customer and partner engagement, operational improvement and the chance to create stronger collaboration across multiple businesses.

Further details about the organisation and the opportunity will be shared confidentially with candidates during the selection process.
