Lifeline Regional SA & Far West NSW is seeking a full-time counsellor to join the Broken Hill Connect Centre team. You will provide professional counselling, support crisis interventions and help connect clients to appropriate services.

The role sits within a well-established organisation delivering suicide prevention and early intervention programs in Far West NSW. Applicants should have a tertiary qualification (Counselling, Social Work, or Psychology) and at least two years post-qualification

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Counselling, Social Work or Psychology with a minimum of two years post qualifying experience in a relevant setting.
• Experience providing counselling services using trauma-informed practice.
• Understanding of suicide intervention and prevention approaches.
• Ability to work with people in crisis including mental health crises and suicide ideation.
• Flexibility to provide information, onward referrals and advocacy to clients not requiring counselling.
• Independent and team work capability.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and accreditations.
• Computer proficiency across common applications.
• Strong written and oral communication with diverse groups.
• Time management and meeting deadlines.
• WHS knowledge.
• National Police check and Working with Children clearance.
• Self-awareness and growth mindset.
• Problem solving and conflict resolution.
• Experience in Clinical and Non-clinical settings.
• Experience in suicide prevention/intervention services.
• Current NSW Driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional, ethical, evidence-based counselling for early intervention and suicide prevention.
• Work with a team of counsellors and volunteers at the Broken Hill Connect Centre.
• Support ongoing professional development and maintain accreditations.
• Deliver information, referrals and advocacy to clients as needed.
