Job summary

UnitingCare Queensland in Mackay is seeking a compassionate Counsellor to join the Parenting Orders Program. The role is a maximum-term, part-time position (3 days per week) based in Mackay, with some evening work required and a focus on supporting families experiencing separation and conflict.

You will undertake assessment, counselling, psychoeducation, referrals and case management for parents, with risk assessments and safety planning in contexts of domestic and family violence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Psychology, Social Work or Behavioural Science from a recognised tertiary institution.
• Eligible for membership with APS; AASW or PACFA.
• Current Queensland Driver's Licence.
• Suitability Card for Child Related Employment (Blue Card).
• Willingness to undergo a criminal history check.

Responsibilities

• Providing assessment, counselling, psychoeducation, referrals, case management to parents.
• Providing support to children and families through referrals and case collaboration.
• Completing risk assessments and safety planning with people experiencing domestic and family violence as well as adhering to organisational processes to manage client risk as part of case management.
