Job summary

UnitingCare Queensland is seeking a compassionate Counsellor for the Parenting Orders Program in Mackay. The role involves assessment, counselling and case management for families experiencing separation and high conflict, with some evening work required.

The position is a part-time, maximum-term appointment until 30 June 2027, based in Mackay, with a salary of $53.43 per hour plus Super and NFP salary packaging.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor level degree in Psychology, Social Work or Behavioural Science from a recognised tertiary institution.
  • Eligible for membership with APS; AASW or PACFA.

  • Completing risk assessments and safety planning with people experiencing domestic and family violence as part of the case management process.

Counsellor | Parenting Orders Program

Employment Term: Maximum term part-time (3 days per week) until 30 June 2027.

Location: Mackay.

Your part in our UnitingCare team

We are currently seeking a compassionate and experienced Counsellor to join our Parenting Orders Program team to support individuals and families experiencing separation, high conflict and emotional stress. This position will be based in Mackay. Some evening work will be required. Our approach is simple –everybody is welcome here.

The role involves

Providing assessment, counselling, psychoeducation, referrals, case management to parents. Providing support to children and families through referrals and case collaboration. The role will Include completing risk assessments and safety planning with people experiencing domestic and family violence as well as adhering to organisational processes and procedures to manage client risk as part of the case management process and client service delivery.

What makes a difference for us?
  • A minimum of Bachelor Level Degree in Psychology, Social Work or Behavioural Science from a recognised tertiary institution.
  • Eligible for membership with APS; AASW or PACFA.
  • Current Queensland Drivers Licence.
  • Suitability Card for Child Related Employment (Blue Card).
  • Willingness to undergo a criminal history check.
