Job summary

UnitingCare Community seeks a Children’s Counsellor to join the Family Law Services in Caboolture. This part-time role focuses on counselling children and young people affected by parental separation and high-conflict situations, including domestic violence, within our FaDS team.

You will provide age-appropriate interventions, assessments, individual and group counselling, and referrals to broader services, contributing to a trauma-informed support network for families.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor in a relevant human services field with membership or eligible membership of a professional body (e.g. AASW, APS, PACFA).
  • Excellent counselling, therapeutic and interpersonal skills with knowledge of evidence-based interventions.
  • Demonstrated assessment skills including therapeutic assessment, crisis intervention and risk assessment.
  • Understanding of trauma impact on children and young people within child protection frameworks.
  • Experience with high conflict, domestic and family violence and impacts on children and family.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality age-appropriate interventions including assessment, individual and group counselling, and psycho-education for children and young people under 18.
  • Connect children and families with other services through referrals and collaborations.
  • Deliver trauma-informed counselling to children affected by parental separation and conflict.
