Job summary

UnitingCare Queensland is seeking a compassionate Counsellor for the Parenting Orders Program in Mackay. The role involves assessment, counselling, referrals and case management to families experiencing separation and conflict, with some evening work and a focus on safety planning.

The position is based in Mackay on a maximum-term part-time basis (3 days/week) until 30 June 2027, offering a competitive hourly rate and benefits within a not-for-profit environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Psychology, Social Work or Behavioural Science from a recognised tertiary institution.
• Eligible for membership with APS; AASW or PACFA.
• Current Queensland Drivers Licence.
• Suitability Card for Child Related Employment (Blue Card).
• Willingness to undergo a criminal history check.

Responsibilities

• Providing assessment, counselling, psychoeducation, referrals, case management to parents.
• Providing support to children and families through referrals and case collaboration.
• Completing risk assessments and safety planning with people experiencing domestic and family violence as part of the case management process.
• Adhering to organisational processes and procedures to manage client risk.

Education

Membership with APS; AASW or PACFA

Current Queensland Drivers Licence

Your part in our UnitingCare team

We are currently seeking a compassionate and experienced Counsellor to join our Parenting Orders Programteam to support individuals and families experiencing separation, high conflict and emotional stress.

This position will be based in Mackay. Some evening work will be required.
