Job summary

UGL is seeking an experienced Cost Controller for the HumeLink West project in NSW. You will manage cost trending, budgets and monthly cost reports on a major infrastructure program, ensuring accurate forecasts and risk assessment.

The role requires 5+ years on large projects, strong communication and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced construction environment. White Card and medical assessment are prerequisites.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in business, commercial, engineering, finance or similar preferred
• Minimum 5 years practical experience on major infrastructure projects
• Demonstrated experience with cost management tools (Excel, SAP, Power BI, SharePoint, JDE)
• Highly developed communication, negotiation and influencing skills
• Strong conflict resolution skills, coupled with the ability to work independently in a fast paced construction environment
• Current Construction Industry Induction Card (White Card or equivalent) and medical assessment prior to commencement.

Job description

HumeLink West Project

Two CIMIC Group companies, UGL and CPB Contractors have been selected by Transgrid to deliver the 130km western section of the HumeLink high voltage electricity transmission project.

HumeLink is a new 500kV transmission project which will connect Wagga Wagga, Maragle and Bannaby in regional NSW that will significantly increase the capacity of the electricity network in Australia’s eastern states. HumeLink is one of Australia’s largest energy infrastructure projects, with about 365kms of proposed new transmission lines and a range of other new and upgraded infrastructure.

The HumeLink West scope of works, worth $1.4bn, includes delivery of new 500kV double circuit transmission lines spanning ~140kms from Wagga Wagga Substation to a new Substation at Gugaa, the Interface Point with HumeLink East near Gundagai and a new substation at Maragle in the Snowy Mountains for future connection to Snowy 2.0.

Key Accountabilities

We are seeking an experienced Cost Controller to join the HumeLink West team. The position is responsible for:

• Provide strong focus on cost trending and forecasting
• Establish and monitor project baseline budgets

• Maintain risk registers to include change impacts
• Monitor and report on cost actuals vs budget,
• Liaison with the PCM for compiling and submitting client progress claims
• The following qualifications and experience are highly desired, but if you don’t tick all the boxes you could still be a perfect fit for this role.

• The successful candidate will be required to hold a current Construction Industry Induction Card (White Card or equivalent) and undergo a medical assessment (including drug and alcohol testing) prior to commencement.

Where applicable, evidence of tertiary qualifications and proof of right to work will be required prior to successful appointment.
