Martinus Group is seeking an experienced Cost Controller to support the Loganlea, Brisbane station relocation project. You will work with project managers, engineers, commercial teams and delivery crews to monitor, forecast and control costs, ensuring alignment with budget and forecast.

You will provide timely cost information for decision-making, maintain cost control processes across the project lifecycle, and identify risks and opportunities for mitigation.

Qualifications

  • Experience in cost control or project controls on major projects.
  • Strong forecasting and budgeting abilities.
  • Advanced Excel skills and data analysis.
  • Excellent communication with stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and report project costs, commitments, accruals and forecasts.
  • Maintain accurate cost reports and project cost control systems.
  • Support monthly cost forecasting, reporting and financial reviews.
  • Analyse cost movements, variances and trends and provide insights to the project team.
  • Work closely with Project Managers, Commercial Managers, Quantity Surveyors and Finance teams.
  • Assist with budget development, cost-to-complete forecasting and cash-flow reporting.
  • Identify potential cost risks and opportunities and support mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure project cost data is accurate, timely and compliant with company processes.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of project cost control and reporting practices.

Job description

Martinus Group is looking for an experienced Cost Controller to join our project team supporting the delivery of our station relocation project in Loganlea, Brisbane.

This is an opportunity to play a key role in the commercial and financial management of a major transport infrastructure project for the area, working alongside project managers, engineers, commercial teams and delivery crews to ensure project costs are accurately monitored, forecast and controlled.

About the role

As Cost Controller, you will be responsible for providing accurate and timely cost information to support project decision-making and successful delivery. You will help maintain strong cost control processes across the project lifecycle, identifying trends, risks and opportunities and ensuring project performance remains aligned with budget and forecast.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Monitor and report project costs, commitments, accruals and forecasts.
  • Maintain accurate cost reports and project cost control systems.
  • Support monthly cost forecasting, reporting and financial reviews.
  • Analyse cost movements, variances and trends and provide insights to the project team.
  • Work closely with Project Managers, Commercial Managers, Quantity Surveyors and Finance teams.
  • Assist with budget development, cost-to-complete forecasting and cash-flow reporting.
  • Identify potential cost risks and opportunities and support appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure project cost data is accurate, timely and compliant with company processes.

You will be an organised, analytical and commercially minded professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced project environment.

Ideally, you will bring:

  • Previous experience in a Cost Controller, Project Controls, Cost Engineer or similar role, preferably within construction, rail, civil infrastructure or major projects.
  • Strong understanding of project cost management and forecasting.
  • Excellent analytical and reporting skills, with strong attention to detail.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience working with project cost management systems.
  • The ability to communicate financial and cost information clearly to both commercial and operational stakeholders.
  • A proactive approach and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary project team.
  • Relevant qualifications in finance, accounting, project controls, construction management or a related discipline are desirable
