Job summary

Axiom Project Services in Brisbane is seeking an experienced project cost controller to join our team supporting a major greenfield mining project as it moves into execution. You will manage budgets, forecasts and cost reporting, work with cross-functional teams, and provide reliable cost insights to project leadership, with a focus on data accuracy and stakeholder collaboration through to 2028.

Qualifications

• At least eight years of project cost control experience in mining, resources or heavy industry.
• Experience supporting projects during the execution phase.
• A relevant tertiary qualification.
• Strong cost reporting, forecasting and analytical capability.
• Experience with a Cost Management System (CMS) or similar platform.
• High attention to detail with data accuracy and clear communication.

Responsibilities

• Managing project budgets, commitments, expenditure, forecasts and accruals.
• Monitoring costs against approved budgets and control baselines.
• Preparing regular cost reports, forecasts and variance analysis.
• Identifying emerging cost trends, risks and opportunities.
• Supporting change control and cost-impact assessments.
• Maintaining accurate cost data and project-control records.
• Working with engineering, procurement, construction and commercial teams.
• Providing cost insights and recommendations to project leadership.
• Supporting reporting requirements throughout the project execution lifecycle.

We are seeking an experienced project cost controller to join our Brisbane-based team and support a major greenfield mining project as it moves into execution. This is an excellent opportunity to take on a key project-controls role with strong project longevity through to 2028, while building a long-term career with Axiom—recognised specialists in project controls and project delivery.

In the role, working closely with the project team and key stakeholders, you will provide accurate, timely and meaningful cost-control information to support effective project delivery and decision-making.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

• Managing project budgets, commitments, expenditure, forecasts and accruals
• Monitoring costs against approved budgets and control baselines
• Preparing regular cost reports, forecasts and variance analysis

About you:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• At least eight years’ experience in project cost control within mining, resources, infrastructure or another heavy-industry environment
• Demonstrated experience supporting projects during the execution phase
• A relevant tertiary qualification
• Strong cost reporting, forecasting and analytical capability
• Experience working with a Cost Management System (CMS) or similar platform—highly regarded
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy
• Well-developed communication and stakeholder-management skills
• The ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary project team
• Brisbane-based availability
