Job summary

HBF Health Limited seeks a Core Lead to own and advance our core insurance platforms—E5, InRule and Ensure. This hands-on senior technical role combines leadership with strategic oversight of stability, performance, resilience and change governance across technology teams.

You will lead lifecycle management, incident and problem management, observability, and platform controls while mentoring a small team and coordinating with Vendors and Enterprise Architecture.

Job description

As our Core Lead, you’ll be the technical owner of HBF’s core insurance platforms, E5, InRule and Ensure, taking accountability for their technical health, stability, performance, resilience and control environment. Sitting within Core Platforms, this is a hands‑on senior technical leadership role where you’ll work alongside Product Owners and specialists across Technology to keep our critical platforms running reliably while continuously improving how they operate. You’ll lead technical lifecycle management, incident and problem management, observability, resilience, platform controls and change and release governance. You’ll also lead and develop a small team, mentor technical capability across the tribe and work closely with vendors and teams across Infrastructure, Cyber Security, Technology Risk and Governance, Data and Analytics and Enterprise Architecture.

What you’ll do

• Take technical ownership of E5, InRule and Ensure, driving platform stability, performance, resilience and lifecycle management
• Lead platform upgrades, technical debt reduction and continuous improvement
• Own the operational health of batch processing, scheduling, platform interfaces and file transfers
• Strengthen monitoring and observability using tools such as Dynatrace and Splunk
• Lead technical response to major platform incidents and drive problem management, root cause analysis and permanent fixes
• Own technical assessments for changes and releases and ensure appropriate technical, stability and non‑functional requirements are considered
• Strengthen operational resilience, business continuity and disaster recovery readiness
• Manage technical controls, vulnerabilities, access and remediation activity in line with HBF’s risk and compliance obligations
• Lead, mentor and grow technical capability across Core Platforms while championing automation, maintainability and better engineering practices.

About you

• You’re an experienced technical leader who enjoys taking genuine ownership of complex platforms and making them safer, more reliable and easier to operate.
• You’re comfortable getting into the technical detail when it matters, but you can also step back, assess risk and communicate a clear position to non‑technical stakeholders.
• When something goes wrong, you bring structure and sound judgement, when things are running well, you’re already thinking about how to make them better.
• You’ll bring a strong understanding of enterprise platform operations in a regulated environment, coupled with the ability to influence teams, work effectively with vendors and develop technical capability in others.
• You’ll also bring Experience managing enterprise platforms with accountability for stability, performance and compliance outcomes.
• Experience across incident and problem management, monitoring and observability, and control remediation.
• Experience managing batch and scheduled processing in a core operational environment.
• Hands‑on configuration capability across a core business system.
• Experience managing vendor technical performance and service levels.
• Strong leadership, mentoring and stakeholder engagement capability.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate technical risk for different audiences.
• Experience with Civica Ensure, InRule or E5, ServiceNow, Dynatrace, Splunk, Control‑M or CI/CD pipelines would be advantageous.
