Job description

The Coordinator, Industry provides high quality coordination, administration and operational support across the Industry Research and Investment portfolio through the Industry Hub shared services model.

ABOUT AGRIFUTURES AUSTRALIA

At AgriFutures Australia our vision is to grow the long-term prosperity of Australian rural industries and communities.

We do this through the delivery of research, development and extension programs for our established and emerging industries. We also deliver programs that address the key challenges and important issues currently facing, and on the horizon for, Australian agriculture and its workforce.

We place people at the centre of everything we do. We listen, connect and collaborate domestically and globally with our industries, Representative Organisations, Research and Development Corporations, government, researchers, industry bodies and other partners.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Help keep research moving and people connected across Australia’s rural industries. As Coordinator, Industry, you’ll be part of our Industry Hub, supporting Plant Industries, Animal Industries and Cross-Sector Research. You’ll coordinate stakeholder meetings and support contracts and projects, bringing attention to detail to the organisation and helping our research and investment programs run smoothly.

Reporting to the Manager, Industry Hub, you’ll work across a diverse mix of industries, build relationships and learn about the research shaping their future. You’ll coordinate activities, keep systems and records up to date, support governance processes and help the team stay on top of deadlines - spotting gaps and flagging issues early.

If you enjoy variety, bringing people together and the satisfaction of getting things done, this role offers the opportunity to put those strengths to work. You’ll collaborate with colleagues, take initiative, pitch in during busy periods and find ways to make everyday processes work better—all while supporting research that contributes to the long-term prosperity of rural industries and communities.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Portfolio coordination: Support project administration, track actions and reporting deadlines, and prepare and quality-check business and executive documents.

Contracting and governance: Coordinate contracting, procurement and Advisory Panel and steering committee administration; progress milestones and payments; and maintain auditable records.

Systems and improvement: Keep AgriFutures approved systems accurate, anticipate requirements and risks, and use approved AI and digital tools to improve processes.

Stakeholder engagement: Build relationships, coordinate stakeholder meetings and events, and support communications that share project information and research outcomes.

Team collaboration: Share workloads and knowledge across the Industry Hub, provide progress updates, support colleagues during busy periods and model AgriFutures Australia’s values.

Executive support: Support the leadership team, with diary management, correspondence, meetings and travel, keeping commitments aligned with portfolio priorities.

Undertake other duties as required and adapt to reasonable changes in workload and priorities.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications in business, project administration, agriculture or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.

Demonstrated experience in coordination, administration, project support, governance support or stakeholder service.

Proven ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines and deliver accurate, high-quality work with limited follow-up.

Experience supporting contracting, procurement, committees, projects or governance processes and maintaining complete, auditable records.

Experience maintaining accurate information across workflow, customer relationship, contract or records management systems, with the ability to learn new systems quickly.

Strong written and verbal communication skills and experience preparing clear and accurate business documents and stakeholder information.

Demonstrated initiative, accountability and sound judgement in anticipating requirements, resolving routine issues and escalating risks or delays.

Proven ability to build constructive relationships, work flexibly across changing priorities and contribute actively to shared team outcomes.

Demonstrated discretion, attention to detail and responsible management of sensitive information and organisational records.

Experience using Monday.com, CRM or similar workflow, contracting and information management systems.

Experience supporting research, investment, grants or project portfolios.

Experience coordinating stakeholder meetings, events, travel or engagement activities.

Experience working as part of a shared services model, with work allocated according to organisational priorities rather than individual portfolio preference.

Knowledge of Australian agriculture, rural industries or research, development and extension environments.

This role is offered on a full-time basis; however, we are open to considering part-time arrangements or a remote role for the right candidate.
