Ozcare Port Douglas Aged Care Facility is seeking a Cook to prepare, cook and serve nutritious meals for residents in line with approved menus and dietary needs.

The role requires knowledge of IDDSI, safe food handling, high standards of hygiene, and the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team. Flexible shifts, vaccination and police screening are expected.

Qualifications

• Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent.
• Demonstrated cooking experience for aged care residents.
• Ability to prepare nutritious meals meeting dietary and texture modification requirements.
• Knowledge and understanding of IDDSI.
• Vaccination against influenza and Covid-19 where applicable.
• Current First Aid & CPR training certificates.

Job Description

As a Cook you'll be looking after the most important people in our organisation - our clients. Your tasks will include:

Prepare, cook and serve meals in line with corporate menus, recipes and dietary requirements

Ensure all meals meet IDDSI and texture-modified needs

Follow safe food handling, hygiene and infection control standards

Monitor and comply with Workplace Health and Safety and Environmental practices

We're looking for a person who has what it takes to support our aged care team to deliver exceptional services to our clients. You have:

Excellent communication skills

A warm and caring nature

Friendly, kind and respectful towards elderly residents

Commitment to provide high-quality dining experience for elderly residents

Strong teamwork, communication, and time-management skills, Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent.

Demonstrated previous cooking experience for aged care residents would be an advantage

Demonstrated ability to prepare nutritious meals that meet the dietary and texture modification requirements of older people

Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of IDDSI

Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Strong time management and organisational skills in a busy kitchen environment.

Flexible availability to cover annual leave, sick leave and ability to work morning, afternoon, and occasional weekend shifts.

Compassionate and resident-focused approach, strong communication and teamwork skills, commitment to delivering high-quality dining experiences for residents.

Be vaccinated against Influenza & at least 1 dose of Covid-19 vaccine

Hold a current Police Screening Certificate

Current First Aid & CPR training Certificates
