Job summary

Respect is seeking a dedicated Cook to join our Residential Aged Care team in Inverell, NSW. You will deliver high-quality catering that supports residents' wellbeing, while upholding food safety, compliance and resource efficiency.

With Certificate III/IV in Commercial Cookery and at least two years' experience in a fast-paced setting, including residential aged care, you will work collaboratively with clinical staff to meet dietary requirements and maintain welcoming dining environments.

Qualifications

• Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery relevant to role.
• Minimum two years’ commercial cooking experience.
• Experience in Residential Aged Care is preferred.
• Solid knowledge of safe food handling and food safety requirements.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strong teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, handle, store and serve food safely and hygienically.
• Present meals and beverages to a high standard.
• Maintain correct food temperatures and record temperature logs.
• Set dining rooms and prepare resident meal trays.
• Assist with dishwashing and kitchen/dining area cleaning.
• Monitor and report food wastage and usage.
• Support residents' dietary requirements in consultation with clinical staff.
• Adhere to food safety, WHS and infection control requirements.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Cook to join our Residential Aged Care team.

This role is responsible for delivering high-quality catering services that support the wellbeing and dining experience of our residents, while ensuring food safety, compliance and efficient use of resources. You will work as part of a supportive catering and care team, preparing and serving meals in a safe, hygienic and welcoming environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing, handling, storing and serving food safely and hygienically
• Ensuring meals and beverages are presented to a high standard
• Maintaining appropriate food temperatures and completing temperature records
• Setting dining rooms and preparing individual resident meal trays
• Assisting with dishwashing and cleaning kitchen and dining areas
• Monitoring and reporting food wastage
• Supporting individual resident dietary requirements in consultation with clinical staff
• Following food safety, WHS and infection-control requirements
• Contributing to a positive and respectful dining experience for residents

About You

We are looking for someone who brings:

• Certificate III or Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery
• Minimum two years’ commercial cooking experience
• Previous experience in a Residential Aged Care setting
• Strong knowledge of food handling and food safety requirements
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Understanding of WHS and infection-control principles
