Job summary

The Tin Plate Café and Restaurant in Ballan, Victoria, seeks two reliable and skilled Cooks to join the kitchen team. You will assist with food preparation and service, preparing a broad range of made-to-order dishes while maintaining food safety standards.

You will work in a busy, made-to-order service environment, focusing on Nepalese and Australian cuisine with an emphasis on quality, consistency, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery with at least 1 year full-time cook experience.
• Practical knowledge of preparation, cooking methods, portion control and kitchen procedures.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook Nepalese and Australian dishes, including momo and mains.
• Complete daily mise en place for meats, seafood, vegetables, sauces, stocks.
• Cook items to order with grilling, pan-frying, deep-frying, braising, baking.
• Ensure correct portion sizes, flavour, texture, and presentation.
• Plate meals per menu and customer requirements.
• Prepare modified meals for dietary needs and prevent cross-contamination.
• Maintain a clean, organized kitchen and storage areas.
• Follow food safety, HACCP and WHS procedures.
• Assist with receiving, labeling and storing deliveries.
• Support catering for private functions when required.
