Job summary

Aroma Palace in Brisbane’s Geebung area is seeking an experienced Cook to join the kitchen team on a full-time basis. You will prepare and cook items to established recipes, ensure quality and comply with food safety standards, with a focus on Indian and South Asian dishes.

The ideal candidate has proven cooking skills, attention to detail, and can work efficiently in a busy commercial kitchen. Salary ranges from $80,000 to $85,000 plus superannuation, with flexibility for shifts.

Qualifications

• Certificate III/IV in Commercial Cookery or 3 years of relevant experience.
• At least 1 year of full-time Cook experience in a commercial kitchen.
• Experience with Indian/South Asian cuisine preferred.
• Knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and safe handling requirements.
• Ability to work under pressure in a busy service period.
• Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook menu items per standard recipes and presentation guidelines.
• Prepare ingredients by washing, cutting, marinating, and portioning meat and produce.
• Operate grills, fryers, ovens, and tandoor safely and efficiently.
• Monitor cooking times and temperatures to meet quality standards.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen workstations and equipment.
• Assist with stock rotation and timely delivery of orders.
• Support planning daily food prep based on demand and forecasts.
• Collaborate with kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure timely service.
