Job summary

Grow and Learn Early Learning Center in Cockburn, Western Australia, is seeking an experienced Cook/Chef to prepare nutritious meals for children and support dietary needs.

You will plan age-appropriate menus, cook morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea, manage stock and safety, and liaise with educators about children's dietary requirements.

Possession of Certificate III in Commercial Cookery, WWCC and First Aid, plus two years in a kitchen, will help you thrive in our busy childcare setting.

Qualifications

• Two years of relevant experience as a Cook or Chef.
• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery, or equivalent.
• Knowledge of children’s nutrition and allergy management.
• Strong organisational skills to manage daily kitchen operations.
• WWCC and First Aid certification required or obtainable.

Job description

Grow and Learn Early Learning Center is seeking an experienced and passionate Cook / Chef to prepare nutritious, balanced and enjoyable meals for children.

Key responsibilities

Plan varied, age-appropriate menus that support children’s nutritional needs.

Prepare and cook morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea.

Cater for allergies, intolerances and special dietary requirements, including preventing cross-contamination.

Manage food purchasing, stock rotation, storage, portion sizes and kitchen supplies.

Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and kitchen cleanliness.

Keep relevant food safety records and communicate with educators about children’s dietary needs.

Qualifications and experience

Minimum two years of relevant experience as a Cook or Chef.

At least Certificate III in Commercial Cookery, or an equivalent relevant qualification. Additional relevant qualifications are welcome.

Knowledge of children’s nutrition, menu planning and allergy management.

Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage daily kitchen operations independently.

Previous experience in a childcare or similar setting is desirable.

Relevant food safety training and ability to obtain any checks required for the role.
