Job summary

VIP Immigration is seeking a qualified Cook to join the Yass Valley Aged Care Limited team in NSW. The role focuses on delivering high-quality, nutritious meals that meet dietary, cultural, and health requirements for residents in alignment with aged care standards.

The successful candidate will have 2–3 years of cook experience, preferably in aged care or healthcare, with a certificate in commercial cookery and a food safety supervisor certificate.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2-3 years' experience as a Cook (preferably in aged care, healthcare, or similar environment).
• Experience working in Aged Care
• Willingness to work as part of a broader catering team to continually improve the catering experience.
• Time management and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

• Preparing, cooking and serving meals per elderly-friendly menus and residents' needs.
• Follow food safety procedures and allergen controls to ensure safe meals.
• Manage stock, ordering supplies and rotation; monitor food costs.
• Participate in menu reviews, resident meetings and feedback processes.
• Work flexible shifts including weekends if required.

Job Description

About the Role VIP Immigration is currently seeking a qualified and experienced Cook on behalf of Yass Valley Aged Care Limited. Yass Valley Aged Care Limited is seeking an experienced and dedicated Cook to join our aged care services team. This role is responsible for delivering high-quality, nutritious meals to residents, ensuring all dietary, cultural, and health requirements are met in accordance with aged care standards.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Cook who is passionate about food, community care, and working within a supportive healthcare environment.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Preparing, cooking and serving of meals as per a specialised menu assessed as suitable for the elderly and frail residents and clients of Yass Valley Aged Care Ltd (YVAC).
• Undertaking any other kitchen duties e.g. catering assistant duties the employer may assign to you, having regard to your skills, training and experience.
• Preparing and serving of specialised textured / moulded foods; liquid / thickened fluids and nutritional supplements.
• Presenting food in an attractive manner; served at the correct time; and temperature as per the YVAC Food Safety Program.
• Being aware of resident's food preferences and to provide an alternative as per the menu when requested.
• Ensuring food safety procedures for allergen control; hot-holding and cooling are followed; temperatures are monitored and recorded to ensure kept within the critical limits.
• Ensuring daily, weekly and monthly cleaning schedules are followed and documented.
• Ordering supplies; accepting deliveries; appropriate storage of supplies; and stock rotation of food as per YVAC procedures.
• Working within a budget to control food costs.
• Involvement in resident meetings and menu review.
• Involvement in Compliance and Feedback / Continuous Improvement processes.

Skills and Experience

Qualifications

• Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent qualification).
• Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
• Relevant experience in a commercial kitchen environment.

Additional Requirements

• Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends if required.
• Compliance with workplace health and safety policies.
• Relevant checks and clearances as required for aged care employment.
