Job summary

St Vincent’s Care Services Maroochydore is seeking a Cook to join its innovative team on the Sunshine Coast. You will prepare multi-course menus, deliver fine dining for residents, and work with an experienced kitchen team in a dynamic aged-care setting.

The role requires a food safety mindset, a current Food Handler Certificate, and experience in high-volume cooking within healthcare or similar environments. You will lead day-to-day production with kitchenhands and support care plans.

Qualifications

  • Trade qualification in Commercial cooking (preferred).
  • Current Food Handler Certificate.
  • Experience with high-volume cooking in hotels, healthcare and/or similar environments.
  • Knowledge of food safety hygiene standards.
  • Ability to lead day-to-day production with kitchenhands and ensure smooth kitchen operations.
  • Understanding of resident rights and care plans.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Cook to join our innovative team at St Vincent’s Care Services Maroochydore. Our residential service is located in the heart of the Sunshine Coast, which is ideally located within walking distance of restaurants and boutiques along Duporth Avenue, the Sunshine Plaza shopping centre, the Maroochy RSL, Maroochydore Rotary Park, and the Maroochy River. Our 130-bed facility is a modern, lifestyle-oriented aged care service located in a master-planned community precinct on Queensland’s famed Sunshine Coast.

In this role you will bring your strong cooking skills and passion for your profession to create our residents a fine dining experience that is second to none! Delivering multi courses, elegant dishes and planning a variety of menus this is your opportunity to show your creative flair whilst working alongside a highly experienced team in a dynamic setting which is redefining the expectations of aged care.

Requirements
  • Trade qualification in Commercial cooking (preferred)
  • current Food Handler Certificate
  • Proven experience with volume cooking such as hotels, healthcare and/or similar environments
  • Excellent knowledge related to all facets of Food Services which includes but not limited to chill production and planning dining service
  • Ability to lead day-to-day production with the assistance of the kitchenhands and accept responsibility for the smooth running of the kitchen
  • Understanding of and compliance with food safety hygiene standards
  • High level of customer service skills
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills
  • Ability to follow directives as per care plan
  • Understanding of Aged Care and resident rights and responsibilities
  • Vaccinated (and up-to-date vaccinations) against Influenza and Covid-19
  • Current or willing to apply for a NDIS Worker Screening Check
