Job summary

The Tasting Deck Forestway is seeking a dedicated full-time Cook in Terrey Hills, NSW 2084. The role offers a competitive salary of $75,000 to $90,000 plus super, in a dynamic café environment open seven days a week.

You will join a friendly team, ensure fresh ingredients, prepare a variety of dishes to spec, maintain high food quality and presentation, and help deliver a positive dining experience for customers.

Qualifications

• At least one to two years experience in similar Cook roles.
• Strong food preparation and cooking skills with attention to quality and presentation.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a kitchen team.
• Good organizational, time-management and communication skills.
• Relevant qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Inspect ingredients and food products to ensure freshness and quality.
• Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to recipes and standards.
• Operate ovens, grills, cooktops and other cooking equipment safely.
• Season and monitor taste, texture and consistency of dishes.
• Portion, plate and garnish meals to maintain presentation standards.
• Meet dietary requirements and customer needs when required.
• Store food properly and manage stock levels with rotation procedures.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Inspect ingredients and food products to ensure freshness, quality and suitability for preparation.
• Prepare and cook a variety of dishes in accordance with recipes, menu requirements and established standards.
• Operate and regulate ovens, grills, cooktops and other cooking equipment to ensure food is cooked correctly.
• Season food during preparation and cooking, and monitor taste, texture and consistency.
• Portion and plate meals, adding sauces, garnishes and accompaniments to maintain presentation standards.
• Prepare meals to meet special dietary requirements and customer needs where required.
• Store food and ingredients appropriately, including in temperature-controlled facilities, and follow stock rotation procedures.
• Assist with menu preparation, estimating food requirements and monitoring ingredient stock levels as required.
• Maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen and comply with food safety, sanitation and workplace health and safety requirements.
