Job summary

Affinity Education Group's Milestones South Grafton is seeking a skilled cook for Mondays and Tuesdays, with the possibility of additional hours. You will help create healthy menus for our 80‑place centre and ensure meals meet nutritional guidelines for children of all ages.

You will benefit from a national network of centre cooks, access to the Feed Australia program for planning and budgeting, and opportunities to contribute to early education through family events and lessons.

Qualifications

• Current Food Safety and Handlers (Health and Community) Certificate
• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent desirable
• Experience in an early childhood setting preferred
• Reliable transport to and from the centre
• Current first aid certificate (including asthma and anaphylactic training) and resuscitation training

Responsibilities

• Create and implement nutritious menus for children of all ages.
• Engage in bulk meal preparation and manage online orders and stock.
• Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations.
• Cater for allergies and dietary requirements and adjust menus accordingly.
• Participate in early educational activities by sharing food lessons with children and families.

About our Centre

Welcome to Milestones South Grafton! We’re passionate about educating our children to know the importance and benefits of healthy choices and nutritious meals. We are a 80 place centre now on the lookout for our next Cook to join our fun loving team on Mondays & Tuesdays with the opportunity to gain more hours if desired.

The role

• This role enables you to play an active part in creating healthy menus.
• You’ll have access to a national network of centre cooks who regularly share recipes, questions, ideas and tips!
• You’ll also be encouraged to utilise the amazing feed Australia program – a free program enabling cooks to plan, budget and access healthy menus to enable children’s growth and development while in child care.

About you

• Efficient and capable cook
• Able to prepare, implement and evaluate the nutritional content of menus for children of all ages
• Experienced in bulk meal preparation, online ordering, stock management and budget control
• Strict about complying with relevant food safety and hygiene regulations and standards
• Able to cater for individual child requirements including allergies, specific dietary requirements and needs
• Keen to participate in the early educational opportunities of teaching children about healthy food by sharing in lessons and family events

You already have
