Job summary

Aegis Aged Care Group is seeking a Cook to support our kitchen team. You will organize kitchen staff, prepare meals according to dietary plans, and manage stores and food safety to ensure high-quality meals for residents.

This role offers stable hours and opportunities to contribute to a respected aged care facility. Ideal candidates will have a Certificate III in Commercial Cookery, experience with large-scale food preparation, and a passion for elder care.

About the Role

A working day will involve:

• Organising kitchen staff in the preparation and serving of meals.
• Preparing resident’s meals according to dietary plans and menus developed.
• Managing receipt of stores, and food storage according to the relevant regulations.
• Ensuring correct food handling techniques are always observed.

About You

You should ideally be an empathetic person who:

• Enjoys working with the elderly.
• Can work independently and as part of a team.
• Is able to supervise, organise and guide staff, to deliver high quality catering outcomes.
• Has availability and flexibility to work a variety of shifts over weekdays and weekends.
• Can communicate effectively both verbally and written.

You should possess the following:

• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent).
• Experience in food preparation and cooking for large number of people.
• Aged Care experience (highly regarded).
• A high level of food safety knowledge.
• Full Australian working rights and able to pass national police clearance.
