Job summary

The Foodies Restaurant Hampton Park, operated by Star S Holdings Australia Pty Ltd, is seeking an experienced Cook to join the kitchen team in Hampton Park, VIC. You will prepare and cook Sri Lankan and other menu items according to established recipes, maintaining high standards of quality, flavour and presentation.

This full-time role requires a Certificate III in Commercial Cookery, 3+ years of kitchen experience, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while adhering to food

Qualifications

• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years of experience as a cook in a commercial kitchen.
• Experience with Sri Lankan or South Asian cuisines is highly regarded.
• Strong knowledge of food preparation and commercial cooking techniques.
• Sound knowledge of food safety and safe handling practices.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook a range of Sri Lankan and other menu items following established recipes and procedures.
• Prepare curries, rice dishes, kottu, rotty, string hoppers, meat, seafood and vegetarian dishes as required.
• Inspect ingredients to ensure freshness and quality.
• Regulate temperatures of ovens, grills, stovetops and other cooking equipment.
• Season and portion food to maintain consistent flavour and presentation.
• Present meals according to restaurant standards and dietary requirements.
• Monitor ingredient usage and assist with estimating daily food requirements.
• Store and rotate ingredients, including temperature-controlled storage.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen workstations and equipment.
• Collaborate with chefs and kitchen staff to support efficient service.
• Follow food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety procedures at all times.

About the Role

The Foodies Restaurant Hampton Park is seeking an experienced Cook to join its kitchen team. The successful candidate will prepare and cook a range of Sri Lankan and other menu items in accordance with established recipes and kitchen procedures while maintaining consistent standards of food quality, flavour, portioning and presentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook a range of Sri Lankan and other menu items in accordance with established recipes and kitchen procedures
• Prepare curries, rice dishes, kottu, rotty, string hoppers, meat, seafood and vegetarian dishes as required for daily service
• Inspect ingredients and food products to ensure freshness and appropriate quality
• Regulate temperatures of ovens, grills, stovetops and other commercial cooking equipment
• Season food during preparation and cooking to maintain consistent flavour and quality
• Portion and present meals in accordance with established restaurant standards
• Prepare food to accommodate dietary requirements and reasonable customer requests where required
• Monitor ingredient usage and assist with estimating food requirements for daily service
• Store, handle and rotate ingredients and prepared food appropriately, including within temperature-controlled storage areas
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of kitchen workstations, cooking equipment and food storage areas
• Work collaboratively with chefs and other kitchen staff to support efficient service
• Follow food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety procedures at all times

Candidate Requirements

• Relevant qualification in Commercial Cookery (Certificate III or above) or a related discipline
• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience as a Cook in a commercial kitchen
• Experience preparing Sri Lankan or South Asian cuisine will be highly regarded
• Strong knowledge of food preparation and commercial cooking techniques
• Ability to maintain consistent food quality, flavour, portioning and presentation
• Sound knowledge of food safety, hygiene and safe food-handling practices
• Strong teamwork, communication and organisational skills
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced restaurant environment
