Job summary

Mater Health Services in South Brisbane is seeking a casual Cook to join our kitchen team. You will prepare and present hot and cold dishes across all meal periods, follow recipes, and support stock control and food safety.

This casual role requires availability on any day of the week on a rotating roster. You will work with a supportive team and gain access to not-for-profit benefits and staff programs.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated bulk food preparation experience.

About the role

Join our team at Mater Health in South Brisbane as a Cook on a casual basis. We are seeking a candidate who is flexible and able to work any day of the week. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the smooth operation of our kitchen by preparing and presenting high-quality food across all meal periods.

Salary range: $35.74 - $37.46 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!

What you’ll be doing

As a Cook, you will be responsible for preparing and presenting hot and cold dishes, following standard portion sizes, recipes, and quality standards. You will maintain a clean work area, undertake kitchen cleaning duties, and ensure stock control and food safety procedures are followed. Additionally, you will work as part of a team to deliver food for patients at the highest standard.

About you

To be successful in this role, you should have:

• Availability to work any day of the week. This does not mean you will work all 7 days, however the ideal candidate would be readily available on any day (occasionally at short notice), as this role supports shift coverage on a permanent rotating roster.
• Current Food Safety Supervisor Certificate
• Demonstrated experience in bulk food preparation
• Ability to read and understand recipes
• Experience with cook/chill processes
• Minimum 3 years previous experience in a health or similar setting
• Proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
