Job summary

Mater Private Hospital Redland is seeking a casual Housekeeping Attendant to join our Support Services team, with day and night shifts across a 7-day roster. You will help maintain clean, safe patient rooms and hospital spaces while supporting the smooth operation of our facility.

The role requires reliability, teamwork and a proactive approach. You will operate cleaning equipment, assist with patient transport, and uphold infection prevention and safety standards in a busy healthcare

Qualifications

• Must be reliable and proactive; strong team player.
• Availability to work 7-day rotating roster (day/night).
• Current Australian Driver's Licence (mandatory).
• Experience in cleaning, hospitality, support services or healthcare environment is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Maintain clean, safe, and welcoming environments for patients, visitors and staff.
• Assist with safe transport of patients around the hospital.
• Handle movement of medical equipment, supplies and resources.
• Perform cleaning duties across patient rooms, public areas, theatres and clinical spaces.
• Support infection prevention and control practices to ensure a safe environment.
• Manage linen, waste and sharps disposal per hospital procedures.
• Collaborate with clinical and support teams for daily operations.

Mater Private Hospital Redland is seeking a Housekeeping Attendant to join our Support Services team on a casual basis. With shifts available across a 7-day roster (Day shift from 6:30am to 6:00pm and Night cleaning from 6:00pm to 02:00am), this is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in making a meaningful difference behind the scenes.

Salary range: $32.82 – $35.39 per hourplus superannuationandaccess to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900+access to many staff benefits!

What you’ll be doing

As a Housekeeping Attendant, you will play a vital role in supporting both patients and clinical teams by helping to maintain a safe, clean and welcoming hospital environment. Every day, your work will contribute to the comfort, wellbeing and overall experience of our patients, while supporting the delivery of high-quality healthcare services.

In this role, you will:

• Help maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment for patients, visitors and staff
• Support patient care through the safe transport of patients throughout the hospital
• Assist with the movement of medical equipment, supplies and other essential resources
• Undertake cleaning duties across patient rooms, public areas, operating theatres and clinical spaces
• Support infection prevention and control practices to help maintain a safe healthcare environment
• Manage linen, waste and sharps disposal in accordance with hospital procedures
• Work closely with clinical and support teams to ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of the hospital
• Contribute to a positive team culture and a commitment to continuous improvement and exceptional service

About you

To be successful in this role, you will be a reliable and motivated team player who takes pride in delivering high standards of service and maintaining a safe, clean and welcoming environment for patients, visitors and staff.

You will also demonstrate:

• Availability to work across a 7-day rotating roster, including day and night shifts
• A current Australian Driver's Licence (mandatory)
• Previous experience in an orderly, cleaning, hospitality, support services or similar role (healthcare experience highly regarded)
• Experience operating cleaning equipment such as carpet cleaners, steam cleaners and floor scrubbers/polishers, or the ability to quickly learn
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
• A proactive approach with the ability to prioritise tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• A commitment to workplace health and safety, infection prevention and maintaining a respectful and inclusive workplace
