Job summary

Community Kids Empire Bay, part of the G8 Education network, is seeking an experienced Cook to prepare nutritious meals and snacks for up to 75 children daily. The role offers 21 hours per week with set shift days, Monday to Friday, and a supportive work environment focused on learning and development.

You will plan menus, manage stocks, ensure food safety, and work as part of a collaborative team to provide high-quality meals that support children's growth.

Qualifications

• Experience in menu planning, budgeting, stock ordering and control.
• Experience with dietary and allergy safe requirements.
• Ability to maintain a clean and safe kitchen per Food Safety regulations.
• Team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Available for set shift days and times Monday to Friday.

Responsibilities

• Prepare high-quality, nutritious meals and snacks for up to 75 children daily.
• Produce meals for a 21-hour-per-week schedule.
• Maintain kitchen hygiene and comply with food safety standards.
• Manage stock and ordering within budget.
• Follow centre operating hours from 7:00am to 6:00pm.

We are looking for an experienced Cook to join the team at Community Kids Empire Bay to produce high quality, nutritious meals and snacks for up to 75 children each day. This role is Part-Time working 21 hours per week.

Our children enjoy delightful indoor and outdoor play areas, rooms equipped with the latest age-appropriate technology and learning resources, and a range of activities. At capacity our centre caters for up to 75 children with operating hours from 7:00am to 6:00pm. Our menus meet nutritional guidelines and are high-quality, allowing young bodies to thrive both mentally and physically. As part of the Team, you will feel appreciated, valued and enjoy a truly supportive and fun work environment.

About You

• Experienced in Menu planning, budgeting, stock ordering & control
• Experienced in dietary and allergy safe requirements
• Experienced in ensuring a clean and safe kitchen environment in accordance with the relevant Food Safety regulations
• Be a Team Player with great communication and interpersonal skills
• Be available for set shift days and times Monday to Friday

Successful Applicants must hold

• A Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or an ACECQA approved Early Childhood qualification and experience in a cook role
• A current Working with Children’s Check / Blue Card / DCSI Clearance and First Aid
• Completed or willing to complete Food Safety Supervisor Certificate
