Oaks Cairns Hotel, part of Minor Hotels, is seeking a skilled Cook to join our kitchen team on a part-time basis. The role supports the smooth operation of the kitchen, preparing and cooking a variety of dishes to a consistently high standard, delivering an exceptional dining experience for guests.

We require at least 12 months of kitchen experience, knowledge of cooking procedures, good communication, teamwork, and flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends.

Qualifications

• Minimum 12 months experience as a cook or in a similar kitchen role.
• Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods.
• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
• Positive, proactive attitude and genuine passion for cooking.
• Flexibility to work a range of shifts, including weekends and public holidays.

Responsibilities

• Prepare ingredients and assist with the cooking and plating of meals.
• Cook a variety of dishes in line with menu standards and guest expectations.
• Ensure excellent presentation of meals before service.
• Maintain proper food storage, safety, and hygiene standards.
• Keep the kitchen clean, organised, and compliant with Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) requirements.
• Support team members to ensure smooth daily kitchen operations.

Job Description

Oaks Cairns Hotel are looking for a skilled and experienced Cook to join our kitchen team on a part-time basis.

This role is essential in supporting the smooth operation of the kitchen, preparing and cooking a variety of dishes to a consistently high standard, and helping deliver an exceptional dining experience for guests.

Key Responsibilities Include:

• Prepare ingredients and assist with the cooking and plating of meals.
• Cook a variety of dishes in line with menu standards and guest expectations.
• Ensure excellent presentation of meals before service.
• Maintain proper food storage, safety, and hygiene standards.
• Keep the kitchen clean, organised, and compliant with Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) requirements.
• Support team members to ensure smooth daily kitchen operations.

Shift Details (subject to change):

• Rotating roster across Monday to Sunday
• Shifts scheduled across breakfast and dinner periods
• Part-time position, minimum 20 hours per week. Additional hours may be available.
• Immediate start available

Hourly Rates (excluding superannuation):

Monday - Friday: $27.08 per hour
Saturday: $33.85 per hour
Sunday: $40.62 per hour
