Job summary

Mexx Engineering Pty Ltd on the Gold Coast is seeking a skilled Controls Engineer to join the Design team. You will design electronic components, circuits and control systems for industrial applications and develop embedded software to run on embedded controllers.

You will supervise installation and commissioning, establish safety standards, and contribute to testing procedures. A Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering is desirable and experience with PLCs, sensors, pneumatics and robotics

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering would be desirable

About the Role

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the successful candidate will be involved in:

• Designing electronic components, circuits and systems used for computer, communication and control systems, and other industrial applications
• Designing software, especially embedded software, to be used within such systems
• Developing apparatus and procedures to test electronic components, circuits and systems
• Supervising installation and commissioning of computer, communication and control systems, and ensuring proper control and protection methods, if required
• Establishing and monitoring performance and safety standards and procedures for operation, modification, maintenance and repair of such systems
• Designing communications bearers based on wired, optical fibre and wireless communication media
• Analysing communications traffic and level of service, and determining the type of installation, location, layout and transmission medium for communication systems
• Designing and developing signal processing algorithms and implementing these through appropriate choice of hardware and software
• Post project customer support

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering would be desirable

Experience

• Proven experience in concept development, 3D design and detailing
• Familiarity with safety requirements of machine design
• High-level technical skills with demonstrated experience in commonly used 3D CAD software
• Sound knowledge of PLC's, sensors, pneumatics, servo motors, conveyors and robotic based automation systems
• Knowledge, or the ability to quickly gain knowledge in robotic based automation systems
• Be familiar with manufacturing practice and experience in automation and robotic design concepts
