Transport for NSW invites applicants for a Control Systems Technical Specialist role based in Erskineville, NSW. You will join Sydney Trains to support critical signalling and control systems essential for safe rail operations.

In this 24/7 environment, you will diagnose faults, perform maintenance, assist with upgrades and collaborate with operations, suppliers and stakeholders to maximise system availability.

Qualifications

  • Qualification in IT, Telecommunications, Electrical/Rail Signalling, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Experience maintaining complex control systems, networks, servers or virtualised environments.
  • Strong fault-finding, debugging and analytical skills.
  • Experience with Windows, networking and industrial control or signalling systems (rail experience preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support, maintenance and incident response for control system assets.
  • Diagnose faults and perform preventative and corrective maintenance across the network.
  • Support system upgrades and work with operations, stakeholders and suppliers to maximise availability.
  • Contribute to safety and operational standards and participate in on-call rosters.

In this role, you'll:

Join Sydney Trains and play a critical role in keeping Sydney’s rail network moving safely and reliably.

As a Signal Control Systems Technical Specialist, you’ll provide technical support, maintenance and incident response for the critical systems that underpin train operations across the network.

Working in a 24/7 operational environment, you’ll diagnose and resolve faults, perform preventative and corrective maintenance, support system upgrades, and work closely with operational teams, stakeholders and suppliers to maximise system availability. You’ll also contribute to continuous improvement initiatives while ensuring all work is completed safely and in line with operational standards.

  • A qualification in Information Technology, Telecommunications, Electrical/Rail Signalling, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Experience maintaining complex control systems, networks, servers or virtualised environments.
  • Strong fault-finding, troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Experience with Windows, networking, and industrial control or signalling systems (rail experience highly regarded).
  • A willingness to participate in an on-call roster and provide after-hours support.
