Job summary

Amida Recruitment represents a market-leading fit-out and refurb contractor in Sydney seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to lead the commercial function, overseeing budgets, forecasts and contract management across multiple concurrent projects up to $50m+ per year.

Reporting to the Group Commercial Manager, you will mentor a team of CAs, drive process improvements, manage risk, and ensure compliance with commercial systems while delivering value to clients and the business.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Commerce or Law.
• Strong preconstruction and contract management skillsets.
• Proven ability to lead and develop a high performing finance/commercial function.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Work with Group Commercial Manager and senior leadership to achieve outcomes.
• Manage the Commercial function’s framework, business plan and forecasts.
• Oversee multiple projects at various stages and mentor CAs.
• Maintain knowledge of industry standards and trend guidance for the Management Team.
• Monitor contractors/consultants adherence to commitments and responsibilities.
• Draft procedures and specifications and support training of the team.

Can have experience as a Contracts Manager looking to step up or a similar Commercial Manager role.

Our client is a market leader with a proven track record of successfully delivering complex projects. They are now seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to join their growing business.

Offering a range of services to their high-end clients, the company specialises in fit-out and refurb of Commercial, Leisure and some Education sector projects as well. Project range from smaller up to $30m with some at circa $50m.

You will be reporting to the Group Commercial Manager and working with senior management and project teams to ensure compliance with commercial management systems and processes to achieve desired outcomes for the company and the clients.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Working closely with the Group Commercial Manager and Senior Leadership team to achieve desired outcomes
• Managing the Commercial function’s framework, business plan and conducting commercial reviews.
• Managing multiple concurrent projects at various stages of the project lifecycle and being an escalation point for a team of CAs at various levels.
• Keeping an up to date knowledge of industry standards and outside trends and providing guidance to the Management Team.
• Top level monitoring contractors/consultants to ensure they are adhering to commitments and responsibilities
• Understand and manage contractor/consultant contractual risk
• Preparation and implementation of business plans and budgets, reviewing and providing accurate forecasts
• Report Writing
• Drafting Procedures and Specifications
• Training and mentoring the team

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Commerce or Law
• Ideally 3-5+ years experience in a similar role of a Contracts Manager looking for a step up
• Strong preconstruction and contract management skillsets
• Strong people management skills and ability to provide support to the team with experience in developing a high performing finance/commercial function
• Proven understanding of engineering concepts
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, confident and developed attitude to represent the Business in an appropriate professional manner.
• Strong knowledge of working with cost management systems as well as front-end conversion and bid management
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
• Able to demonstrate initiative and drive
