Job summary

Amida Group is seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to join its market-leading fit-out and refurb contractor team in Sydney. You will oversee commercial function, manage multiple projects, and work with senior leadership to ensure compliant and profitable delivery of high-end commercial, leisure and education sector projects.

Reporting to the Group Commercial Manager, you will drive business plans, budgets and forecasts, mentor a team of CAs, and maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry

Qualifications

• Ter tiary qualification in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Commerce or Law.
• 3–5+ years experience in a Contracts Manager role or stepping up from a senior position.
• Strong preconstruction and contract management skillsets.
• Experience in leading a finance/commercial function within construction.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and professional presentation.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Group Commercial Manager and senior leadership to achieve outcomes.
• Manage the Commercial function’s framework, business plan and forecasts.
• Oversee multiple projects across lifecycle and support a CA team.
• Monitor industry trends and advise Management.
• Supervise contractors/consultants to ensure commitments are met.
• Identify and manage contractual risk with proactive risk mitigation.
• Prepare and implement business plans and budgets with accurate forecasts.
• Draft procedures and specifications; report writing and mentoring.

Exciting opportunity to join a market leading fit-out and refurb contractor in a leadership role. Can have experience as a Contracts Manager looking to step up or a similar Commercial Manager role.

Our client is a market leader with a proven track record of successfully delivering complex projects. They are now seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to join their growing business.

Offering a range of services to their high-end clients, the company specialises in fit-out and refurb of Commercial, Leisure and some Education sector projects as well. Project range from smaller up to $30m with some at circa $50m.

You will be reporting to the Group Commercial Manager and working with senior management and project teams to ensure compliance with commercial management systems and processes to achieve desired outcomes for the company and the clients.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Working closely with the Group Commercial Manager and Senior Leadership team to achieve desired outcomes


• Managing the Commercial function’s framework, business plan and conducting commercial reviews.


• Managing multiple concurrent projects at various stages of the project lifecycle and being an escalation point for a team of CAs at various levels.


• Keeping an up to date knowledge of industry standards and outside trends and providing guidance to the Management Team.


• Top level monitoring contractors/consultants to ensure they are adhering to commitments and responsibilities


• Understand and manage contractor/consultant contractual risk


• Preparation and implementation of business plans and budgets, reviewing and providing accurate forecasts


• Report Writing


• Drafting Procedures and Specifications


• Training and mentoring the team

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Commerce or Law


• Ideally 3-5+ years experience in a similar role of a Contracts Manager looking for a step up


• Strong preconstruction and contract management skillsets


• Strong people management skills and ability to provide support to the team with experience in developing a high performing finance/commercial function


• Proven understanding of engineering concepts


• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, confident and developed attitude to represent the Business in an appropriate professional manner.


• Strong knowledge of working with cost management systems as well as front-end conversion and bid management


• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail


• Able to demonstrate initiative and drive
