Job summary

Amida Group in Sydney is seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to lead the commercial function across multiple concurrent projects in the fit-out and refurbishment sector. You will report to the Group Commercial Manager, manage the contracts team, and ensure robust commercial processes and forecasting.

You will leverage 3–5+ years in contracts management and a tertiary qualification in engineering, construction management, QS, commerce or law to deliver value to high-end clients on projects

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Commerce or Law.
• 3–5+ years in a similar Contracts Manager/Commercial Manager role preferred.
• Strong preconstruction and contract management skillsets.
• Strong people management skills and ability to develop a high performing team.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Work with Group Commercial Manager and Leadership to deliver outcomes.
• Manage the Commercial function’s framework, business plan and budgeting.
• Oversee multiple concurrent projects and guide CA teams at multiple levels.
• Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of industry standards and trends.
• Monitor contractors/consultants for adherence to obligations and risks.

Exciting opportunity to join a market leading fit-out and refurb contractor in a leadership role. Can have experience as a Contracts Manager looking to step up or a similar Commercial Manager role.

Our client is a market leader with a proven track record of successfully delivering complex projects. They are now seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to join their growing business.

Offering a range of services to their high-end clients, the company specialises in fit-out and refurb of Commercial, Leisure and some Education sector projects as well. Project range from smaller up to $30m with some at circa $50m.

You will be reporting to the Group Commercial Manager and working with senior management and project teams to ensure compliance with commercial management systems and processes to achieve desired outcomes for the company and the clients.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Working closely with the Group Commercial Manager and Senior Leadership team to achieve desired outcomes


• Managing the Commercial function’s framework, business plan and conducting commercial reviews.


• Managing multiple concurrent projects at various stages of the project lifecycle and being an escalation point for a team of CAs at various levels.


• Keeping an up to date knowledge of industry standards and outside trends and providing guidance to the Management Team.


• Top level monitoring contractors/consultants to ensure they are adhering to commitments and responsibilities


• Understand and manage contractor/consultant contractual risk


• Preparation and implementation of business plans and budgets, reviewing and providing accurate forecasts


• Report Writing


• Drafting Procedures and Specifications


• Training and mentoring the team

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Commerce or Law


• Ideally 3-5+ years experience in a similar role of a Contracts Manager looking for a step up


• Strong preconstruction and contract management skillsets


• Strong people management skills and ability to provide support to the team with experience in developing a high performing finance/commercial function


• Proven understanding of engineering concepts


• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, confident and developed attitude to represent the Business in an appropriate professional manner.


• Strong knowledge of working with cost management systems as well as front-end conversion and bid management


• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail


• Able to demonstrate initiative and drive
