Job summary

Kinetic IT is seeking an experienced Contract Manager to join our Delivery Excellence & Contract Performance Team in Australia. You will be the trusted partner for Commonwealth Government accounts, translating complex contractual obligations into practical outcomes that support customer success, manage risk and deliver commercial value.

Qualifications

• Experience in government/commercial contracts and risk management.
• Strong understanding of governance, compliance and change management.
• Proven ability to translate complex contractual obligations into actionable processes.
• Experience negotiating within delegated authority and escalating high-risk matters.
• Ability to manage multiple stakeholders across large organisations.

Responsibilities

• Manage Commonwealth Government contracts across the lifecycle: implementation, operations, renewal, expiry and transition.
• Interpret contractual requirements and obligations into clear actions and governance practices.
• Prepare and coordinate contract variations, extensions and renewals.
• Lead contract negotiations within delegated authority and escalate material risks.
• Maintain obligation registers, contract artefacts, notices and governance records.
• Monitor compliance with contractual, security and confidentiality obligations.
• Identify and manage contractual and commercial risks, including performance exposures.
• Analyse contract performance and advise on risk mitigation and opportunities.
• Act as day-to-day contact for assigned customer accounts and build relationships.
• Support governance forums, reviews, audits and assurance activities.
• Identify opportunities to improve contract controls and templates.

Operating with a high level of autonomy, you'll help ensure contracts remain compliant, commercially sustainable and aligned to both customer and business objectives.

Responsibilities will include

• Managing Commonwealth Government contracts throughout the contract lifecycle, including implementation, operations, change, renewal, expiry and transition.
• Interpreting contractual requirements and government-specific obligations, translating them into clear actions, controls and governance practices.
• Preparing and coordinating contract variations, change proposals, extensions, renewals and supporting commercial documentation.
• Leading contract negotiations within delegated authority and escalating material or high-risk matters where appropriate.
• Maintaining accurate obligation registers, contract artefacts, notices, deliverables and governance records.
• Monitoring compliance with contractual, security, probity, confidentiality, records management and reporting obligations.
• Identifying, assessing and managing contractual and commercial risks, including service credits, disputes, remedies and performance exposures.
• Analysing contract performance and providing practical, evidence-based advice on risk mitigation, corrective actions and commercial opportunities.
• Acting as the day-to-day contractual point of contact for assigned customer accounts and building trusted relationships with Commonwealth customer representatives.
• Supporting governance forums, contract reviews, customer discussions, audits and assurance activities.
• Identifying opportunities to improve contract controls, templates, processes and account practices while contributing to broader capability initiatives.

What you’ll bring to the table

• Relevant qualifications in Business, Law, Commercial Management, Contract Management or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
• Experience supporting the management of Commonwealth Government and commercial contracts, or working within highly regulated contractual environments.
• Practical understanding of procurement, contracting, governance and compliance frameworks, ideally within government, defence or other complex enterprise environments.
• Demonstrated experience managing contract changes, obligations, risks, renewals and stakeholder governance activities.
• Strong commercial and contractual negotiation skills, with the ability to interpret complex contract provisions and develop practical recommendations.
• Experience working within complex service delivery, managed services, outsourcing or professional services environments will be highly regarded.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence, collaborate and build trusted relationships at multiple organisational levels.
• Excellent written communication, analytical thinking and attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively in security-sensitive environments and manage protected or commercially sensitive information appropriately.
• Australian Citizenship and an active AGSVA Security Clearance is required.
