Job summary

Hindmarsh is seeking an experienced Contracts Manager to join our Canberra team and lead the commercial outcomes of a significant $100M+ high-rise residential project delivering affordable housing for the ACT community.

As the commercial lead, you will work closely with the Project Manager to maximise performance, manage risk and drive successful project outcomes from procurement through to completion.

Qualifications

• Significant commercial construction experience and understanding of head contractor processes.
• Strong knowledge of contract law principles and payment legislation.
• Proven ability to lead commercial outcomes on complex projects.
• Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management abilities.
• Experience using CHEOPS, Aconex or similar construction software.

Responsibilities

• Lead head contract and subcontract administration across all phases of project delivery.
• Develop and implement procurement strategies and manage major trade packages.
• Identify, manage and mitigate commercial and contractual risks.
• Manage client and subcontractor claims, variations and extension of time processes.
• Monitor project financial performance, forecasting, cashflow and cost reporting.
• Prepare and present commercial reports to project and business leadership.
• Support project delivery teams with commercial strategy and decision-making.
• Lead commercial compliance, contract reviews and project audits.
• Mentor and develop Contract Administrators and emerging professionals.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants and subcontractors.

Hindmarsh is seeking an experienced Contracts Manager to join our Canberra team and lead the commercial outcomes of a significant $100M+ high-rise residential project that will deliver much-needed affordable housing for the ACT community.

Contracts Managers at Hindmarsh are responsible for leading project commercial outcomes through effective head contract management, procurement strategy, subcontractor management and commercial risk leadership. As the commercial lead on the project, you will work closely with the Project Manager and site leadership team to maximise performance, manage risk and drive successful project outcomes from procurement through to completion.

Reporting to the Project Manager, your responsibilities will include:

• Leading head contract and subcontract administration across all phases of project delivery
• Developing and implementing procurement strategies and managing major trade packages

We are looking for team members who have:

• Significant commercial construction experience, ideally within a head contractor environment
• Strong knowledge of contract law principles, Security of Payment legislation and commercial risk management
• Proven experience leading commercial outcomes on complex construction projects
• Strong negotiation, stakeholder management and communication skills
• Experience using CHEOPS, Aconex and similar construction software
