HiTech Personnel is seeking an experienced Content Writer/Editor for a Federal Government department in Canberra to perform comprehensive copy editing of the manuscript before graphic design and publication. The role focuses on clarity, consistency, readability, and accuracy across a complex document.

The initial contract runs until 15 December 2026 with a view to a further 12-month extension and offers rewarding hourly rates.

Qualifications

• Professional copy editing, proofreading and publication editing for complex or high-profile documents.
• Strong knowledge of grammar, spelling, punctuation, syntax and editorial conventions.
• Experience reviewing documents developed by multiple authors and stakeholders.
• Strong attention to terminology, acronyms, capitalisation, numbers, references, headings, cross-references, tone and document structure.

• Review the manuscript in its entirety.
• Improve clarity of expression and sentence structure where required.
• Ensure consistent use of terminology and technical language.
• Raise editorial queries where clarification is required.
