Job summary

DP World Fremantle is seeking an experienced Container Repairer to join our Container Parks team in Fremantle, WA. You will weld and fabricate repairs on shipping containers, fix doors and flooring, and prepare units for painting while upholding safety and industry standards.

This is a permanent full-time role, 6:00am–2:00pm, with overtime on weekdays and weekends. You will work with hand and power tools, perform rust removal and touch-ups, and help maintain high-quality containers for cargo

Qualifications

• Experience repairing shipping containers or heavy equipment.
• Welding and fabrication experience.
• Experience with hand and power tools.
• Ability to repair or replace container doors, hardware and flooring.
• Strong attention to detail and safety in the workplace.

Responsibilities

• Carry out welding and fabrication repairs to container structures, including panels and components.
• Repair and replace container doors, hinges, locking bars and hardware.
• Prepare repaired areas by grinding, cleaning and rust removal; perform touch-up painting as required.
• Repair and replace container flooring and cross-members for cargo readiness.
• Prepare containers for transport: remove dunnage, labels, wash and clean surfaces.
• Inspect repairs to ensure quality, safety and compliance with industry standards.

Job Purpose

In this role, you will carry out repairs and maintenance on shipping containers, ensuring they are safe, secure and meet required industry standards. Your day-to-day work will include welding and fabrication, repairing container doors and hardware, replacing flooring and preparing containers for painting. You will also assist with general container cleaning, washing and preparation. This is a permanent full-time position working Monday to Friday, 6:00am to 2:00pm, with overtime opportunities available on weekdays and weekends.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out welding and fabrication repairs to container structures, including steel panels, brackets and other components
• Repair and replace container doors, hinges, locking bars, handles, seals and other hardware
• Prepare repaired areas by grinding, cleaning and removing rust or damaged coatings, including touch-up painting where required
• Repair and replace container flooring and floor cross-members, ensuring floors are secure and suitable for cargo loading
• Complete general container preparation, including removing dunnage and old shipping labels, washing and cleaning containers
• Inspect completed repairs to ensure work meets required quality, safety and industry standards

Qualifications, Skills And Experience

• Previous experience repairing shipping containers, heavy equipment, trailers, structural steel or similar
• Welding and fabrication experience, with the ability to complete structural repairs
• Experience using hand tools, power tools and welding equipment
• Ability to repair or replace container doors, hardware and flooring
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and workplace health and safety
• Reliable and practical approach to work, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
