Position Overview

The purpose of this Construction (Work Skills) Traineeship in Kingaroy is to provide the successful applicant with the opportunity to develop skills and knowledge through completing on the job working experience and training with an employer whilst completing a nationally recognised course of training through a registered training organisation.

Duties and Responsibilities

As a participant in this program you will complete a Certificate I level qualification in Construction, gain practical experience in real-work situations that aligns with your training, complete paid work that can be included in your resume, and receive a mix of career advice, job preparation skills and foundation skills

Construction workers assist on building and construction sites by doing a range of manual labouring jobs.

Day-to-day tasks may include:

• unloading, carrying and stacking building materials and place tools and equipment in position
• digging trenches using hand tools or jackhammers to break up rock and concrete, so that footings and services can be laid
• placing and compacting filling and quarry materials
• helping to erect and dismantle scaffolding (subject to certification in some states and territories), ramps, catwalks, barricades and warning lights
• using wheelbarrows to remove rubble and rubbish from building sites

• Commit to and complete the Training Plan in the timeframe allocated by completing theory based assessments and demonstrating skills through competency based assessments to the best of your ability.
• Comply with registration relevant to your field of work, in particular the Further Education and Training Act and the Work Health and Safety Act.
