We are a well-established and growing bathroom renovation company on the Gold Coast, currently commencing up to six bathroom renovations per week, with projects generally running for approximately 5–6 weeks.
We are looking for an experienced Construction Project Coordinator to take ownership of the day-to-day scheduling, trade coordination, client communication and project-management systems across our active renovations.
This is a hands-on coordination role for someone who understands residential construction, knows how trades work together and can keep a large number of projects moving at the same time.
You will work closely with two highly skilled supervisors:
A carpenter/construction supervisor overseeing projects from strip-out through to sheeting.
A tiling/finishes supervisor overseeing projects from sheeting through to completion.
The supervisors are responsible for technical quality and workmanship.
Your role is to coordinate the overall programme and make sure the right people, information and resources are in place at the right time.
Manage the live construction schedule across multiple active projects.
Coordinate supervisors, trades and subcontractors.
Allocate the right people to the right jobs based on skills, availability and project requirements.
Keep projects progressing through each stage of construction.
Monitor upcoming work and identify delays or scheduling clashes early.
Adjust schedules when project conditions change.
Ensure trades receive the correct plans, information and timing.
Maintain clear communication between the office, supervisors, trades and clients.
Provide clients with regular progress updates.
Follow up outstanding work and ensure tasks are completed.
Assist with coordination of variations and changes where required.
Help improve the systems and processes used to run the construction department.
Strong systems experience is an important part of this role.
We currently use TeamGantt, however we are open to changing systems and improving the way our construction department operates.
We want someone who has experience using construction or project-management software and understands how technology can be used to manage:
Scheduling
Trade allocation
Project stages
Tasks and follow-ups
Client communication
Site information
Forward planning
Experience with Buildxact, Buildertrend, NextMinute, simPRO, TeamGantt or similar systems would be highly regarded.
If you have successfully used another platform and believe it would better suit our business, we are very open to your recommendations.
Most importantly, we want someone who has actually used a system to manage construction projects, rather than someone who has simply been exposed to one.
The successful applicant will ideally have:
Strong experience in residential construction, renovations or a similar trade-based environment.
A good understanding of construction sequencing.
Knowledge of the roles and capabilities of different trades.
The ability to assess what a job requires and allocate the most suitable person.
Strong scheduling and forward-planning skills.
Excellent computer skills.
Hands-on experience using construction or project-management software.
Strong communication skills with clients, trades and supervisors.
The ability to manage multiple projects at once.
Strong follow-up and organisational skills.
A proactive approach to solving problems.
Confidence making day-to-day operational decisions.
The ability to remain calm and organised when schedules change.
This role requires someone who understands the construction industry well enough to make practical decisions, not simply someone with administrative experience.
Your job is to make sure:
The right person is at the right job, at the right time, with the right information and materials.
Projects should move efficiently, trades should know where they need to be, supervisors should have the information they require, and clients should remain informed throughout their renovation.
This is an important role within a growing business and offers the successful applicant the opportunity to have a genuine influence on how the construction department operates.
We are not looking for someone to simply maintain the system we already have.
We are looking for someone who can help us build a better one.
For the right person, there is genuine opportunity for the role to develop into a broader Construction Operations or Project Management position as the business continues to grow.
$100,000 – $120,000 + Super, depending on experience and capability.
We are prepared to pay toward the upper end of the range for someone with strong construction coordination experience and proven experience managing projects through effective systems.
