Job summary

RoadTek Central Queensland, a part of the Department of Transport and Main Roads, is seeking a Workplace Trainer to develop people, deliver technical training and build workforce capability across the region.

You will coordinate regional training programs, identify development opportunities and contribute to safety-focused, skilled teams delivering critical infrastructure outcomes. Experience with civil construction training and training management is valued.

Qualifications

  • Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment is required.
  • Certificate III in Civil Construction (Plant Operations) is preferred.
  • Certificate III in Civil Construction (Road Construction and Maintenance) is preferred.
  • Certificate IV in Project Management is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, manage and deliver training with Registered Training Organisations to meet roles and legislation.
  • Assist in implementing the Work Centre's learning and development program, monitor costs and report KPIs.
  • Maintain an employee training program and provide timely training advice to managers.
  • Maintain relationships with Operations, Resource and Project Managers and Supervisors about training needs.
  • Coordinate and/or deliver accredited and non-accredited civil construction training to meet legislative requirements.
  • Manage training records, licenses and plant operator certificates in the Training Management System.
  • Manage the Civil Tradesperson Development Program (CTDP) on behalf of the Resource Manager.
  • Support the Reference Group recommendations and ensure alignment with guidelines and rules.
  • Provide monthly reporting support to management and participate in meetings.

Education

Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment.
Certificate III in Civil Construction (Plant Operations).
Certificate III in Civil Construction (Road Construction and Maintenance).
Certificate IV in Project Management.

As a Workplace Trainer, you'll play a pivotal role in building capability, delivering technical training and developing the skills of our workforce. Working closely with operational leaders, you'll coordinate regional training programs, identify development opportunities and help create a highly skilled, safety-focused team that delivers critical infrastructure outcomes across the region.

Accountabilities Include
  • Identify, manage and deliver training in conjunction with Registered Training Organisations to ensure employees are able to fulfil their roles and responsibilities in accordance with business workforce capability and current legislation requirements.
  • Assist in the implementation and delivery of the Work Centre's learning and development program, monitoring of training costs against budget and reporting to management on the performance of the learning and development program against key performance indicators.
  • Maintain an employee training program, to ensure timely advice to Resource Managers and Project Managers, on training needs and all planned absences from work to attend training.
  • Maintain strong relationships with the Operations Manager, Resource Manager, Project Managers and Supervisors to ensure they are fully informed of training activities and needs.
  • Coordinate and/or deliver both accredited and non-accredited civil construction training courses to ensure that employees have the skills and competencies to meet legislative requirements.
  • Responsible for the management and maintenance of a register of training and assessment records, staff licenses and plant operator certificate numbers and carry out regular checks to ensure that operators have correct and current tickets/certificates. Ensure this information is recorded in and monitored through the Training Management System.
  • Manage the Implementation of the Civil Tradesperson Development Program (CTDP) on behalf of Resource Manager.
  • Assist the Resource Manager to ensure the recommendations and actions from the Reference Group (Construction Worker Development Committee) are implemented into the business, and the program is run in accordance with approved guidelines and business rules.
  • Provide monthly reporting advice to support management and key deliverables and attend management meetings.
Desirable Requirements
  • Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment.
  • Certificate III in Civil Construction (Plant Operations).
  • Certificate III in Civil Construction (Road Construction and Maintenance).
  • Certificate IV in Project Management.
