Job summary

Strata Title Lawyers, a specialist strata and construction law firm, seeks an experienced Construction Lawyer in Sydney with around 5+ years PQE. You will handle high-quality construction matters with autonomy, direct client contact, and opportunities to work closely with the CEO and senior team.

The role focuses on owners corporations against builders, building defect and rectification claims, contract drafting and dispute resolution across complex matters with international dimensions.

Qualifications

• Australian qualified lawyer with approximately 5+ years PQE in construction law.
• Commercially minded with ability to manage matters independently and liaise directly with clients.
• Experience in building defects, construction litigation, contracts and dispute resolution is highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Advise and represent clients across a varied construction law practice.
• Attend hearings, mediations and other dispute resolution conferences.
• Draft, review and negotiate construction contracts and related documents.
• Provide risk mitigation and practical dispute-resolution strategies.
• Manage matters independently including priorities, deadlines and client communication.

The Role

You will advise and represent clients across a varied and interesting construction law practice, including:

• Acting for owners corporations against builders, developers, engineers, architects and professional indemnity insurers in building defect and rectification claims
• Attending court hearings, mediations and other alternative dispute resolution conferences
• Advising clients on risk mitigation and practical dispute-resolution strategies
• Drafting, reviewing and negotiating construction contracts and related project documentation
• Advising on contract administration, variations, extensions of time, payment claims and construction claims
• Advising on regulatory compliance, risk allocation and project issues
• Providing clear, commercially focused advice while maintaining a high standard of client service
• Managing matters independently, including priorities, deadlines and client communication

About You

You are an Australian qualified lawyer with approximately 5+ years PQE and solid construction law experience. You are commercially minded, confident managing matters independently and comfortable dealing directly with clients. Experience in building defects, construction litigation, contracts, adjudications and dispute resolution will be highly regarded.
