Job summary

NOW Energy is seeking an Estimator in Sydney to own tenders from first principles through submission on commercial projects up to $10M, including fit-out and refurbishment within live environments.

You will work with the National Estimating Manager to prepare BOQs, cost estimates, and tender packages, review subcontractor quotes, and support post-tender negotiations using Buildsoft Cubit, Cubit Select and EstimateOne.

Qualifications

• Experience directly for a commercial builder / principal contractor.
• Tendering commercial projects up to approx. $10M.
• Experience in commercial fit-out and refurbishment.
• Experience on live operational environments.
• Exposure to commercial new-build projects.
• Strong subcontractor and supplier knowledge.
• Experience preparing scopes, BOQs, take-offs and trade comparisons.
• Good understanding of construction methodology, sequencing and contractual requirements.
• Experience with Cubit, Cubit Select and EstimateOne is highly regarded.
• Ability to manage multiple tenders with tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Sydney, NSW | Commercial Fit-Out, Refurbishment & New Build | Projects up to $10M

NOW Energy is partnering with an established Tier 3 commercial principal contractor to recruit an experienced Estimator for their Sydney team.

With a strong pipeline and multiple projects currently underway, this is an opportunity to join a fast-paced commercial builder delivering projects across retail, commercial fit-out, refurbishment, live environments and new builds.

The Role

Working closely with the National Estimating Manager and wider construction team, you will take ownership of allocated tenders from initial review and first-principles estimating through to submission and post-tender negotiations.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Estimating commercial construction projects generally valued up to $10M
• Managing tenders from first principles through to final submission
• Preparing BOQs, detailed cost estimates and professional tender submissions
• Completing detailed take-offs and reviewing projects trade by trade
• Preparing subcontractor and supplier tender packages
• Reviewing, analysing and comparing subcontractor quotations
• Identifying scope gaps, design discrepancies, risks and opportunities
• Calculating preliminaries and assisting with construction methodology and sequencing
• Attending site inspections and assessing existing project conditions
• Liaising with subcontractors, suppliers, Project Managers and key stakeholders
• Participating in tender reviews and post-tender meetings
• Maintaining accurate tender documentation and estimating records.

The position uses Buildsoft Cubit, Cubit Select and EstimateOne as part of the estimating and subcontractor tender process.

About You

We are specifically seeking an Estimator with experience working directly for a commercial builder / principal contractor.

This is a builder-side role and is not suited to purely client-side, consultancy or Quantity Surveying backgrounds.

Ideally, you will bring:

• Previous estimating experience with a commercial principal/head contractor
• Proven experience tendering commercial projects up to approximately $10M
• Strong exposure to commercial fit-out and refurbishment
• Experience working on projects within live operational environments
• Exposure to commercial new-build projects
• Strong subcontractor and supplier knowledge
• Experience preparing scopes, BOQs, take-offs and trade comparisons
• Good understanding of construction methodology, sequencing and contractual requirements
• Experience with Cubit, Cubit Select and EstimateOne highly regarded
• The ability to manage multiple tenders and competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
