Job summary

Granny Flat Solutions in Sydney's North is seeking a Construction Estimator to help plan and budget projects. You will study plans, prepare bills of quantities, and assess risks to protect project outcomes.

The role requires minimum 3 years in estimating, strong communication, and ability to interpret drawings. We offer mentoring, development paths and a collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and estimate budget costs for construction by studying plans and specifications.
• Create Bill of Quantities to identify and itemise building materials for costing.
• Perform risk assessments to account for potential deviations from the project plan.
• Write up and present budgets, reports and project plans.
• Navigate and understand building codes.
• Support the Design team through Pre-Construction, sourcing quotations and plans.
• Liaise with Contractors, Suppliers, Consultants and Private Certifiers, maintaining good relationships.
• Provide expert advice on site details, client requirements and compliance issues.
• Prepare essential documents for all related parties during construction including customers, PMs and trades.

We are looking for a talented Construction Estimator to help the most important people in our business - our customers!

You will be responsible for the following key responsibilities:

• Prepare and estimate budget costs for construction by studying plans and specifications
• Creating Bill of Quantities - identify and itemise building materials for costing
• Performing risk assessments to account for potential deviations from the project plan
• Write up and presents budgets, reports, and project plans
• Navigate and understand building codes
• Support the Design team throughout the Pre-Construction process including sourcing quotations (eg. non-standard items), engineering plans etc
• Liaise with our Contractors, Suppliers, Consultants and Private Certifiers and maintain a great working relationship with them
• Offering expert advice in regards to site details, client requirements and compliancy issues
• Prepare essential documents required by all related parties throughout the construction process including customer, Project Managers and trades / suppliers' documentation

The skills we are looking for:

• Being up to date with safety codes and improvements in construction
• Negotiating with service providers to secure better prices
• Ability to analyse labour, material, and time requirements for a project
• Upholding exceptional customer service to all clients

We are seeking someone who:

• Has a minimum 3 years' experience in construction Estimating. Contract Administration experience also desirable
• Has the ability to understand and interpret architectural plans for estimating function
• Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Is self-motivated and results-focused
• Is highly organised, can work in a team and an excellent multi-tasker
