Job summary

Colin Biggers & Paisley is seeking an Associate or Senior Associate to join its established construction team in Sydney. The role involves advising on construction matters, reviewing legislation, and managing a robust workload within a leading practice.

The team is noted for complex projects, mentoring, and a strong work-life balance culture across an experienced infrastructure and engineering practice.

Qualifications

• 3+ years' PQE with construction focus or exposure.
• Experience handling both front- and back-end matters.
• Demonstrated ability to build and maintain client relationships.

Responsibilities

• Provide clients with legal advice on construction matters.
• Regularly review case law and legislative changes.
• Conduct legal research to provide timely, commercial advice.
• Manage workloads and prioritize tasks while delivering high-quality service.
• Develop understanding of client operations and strategy and support BD efforts.
• Mentor junior staff and contribute to MCLE requirements.

About the role:

This is an exciting opportunity for an Associate or Senior Associate to work in an established construction practice.

• Providing clients with legal advice
• Regularly reviewing applicable case law and legislative changes
• Conducting effective legal research and analysis to produce timely, commercial and legally accurate advice
• Managing a robust workload, including prioritising work and delivering services effectively
• Developing an understanding of client operations and strategy
• Managing prospective client relationships
• Mentoring and developing junior staff
• Continual professional development and managing MCLE requirements

About you:

• 3+ years' PQE and can hit the ground running
• Will have experience in both front and back-end work, with a desire to lean into front-end work
• Self-motivated and confident
• An aspiration to be an integral member of a strong and cohesive team who work together
• Ability to manage large volumes of documents
• Strong attention to detail
• Practical and client focused problem solving and research skills
• Previous exposure to Business Development and a natural ability to build strong client relationships
• Ability to manage client expectations and run matters autonomously
