Job summary

Piper Alderman is seeking an experienced Associate with 3-6 years PQE to join our busy Projects & Construction team in Sydney. You will handle a broad range of building, construction and infrastructure matters for developers, head contractors, consultants and subcontractors, with exposure to front end and back end work across 2-3 partners.

You will draft contractual and litigation documents and provide commercial advice, while working autonomously and as part of a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• Admitted to practice with about 3 years PQE in construction/projects.
• Experience in both front-end and back-end work.
• Strong academic record.
• Excellent technical legal drafting skills.
• Ability to deliver high-quality outcomes for clients.
• Ability to manage time and meet deadlines.

Job description

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Associate with 3-6 years PQE to join our busy and successful Projects & Construction team in our Sydney office.You will have the opportunity to consistently challenge yourself while working on a broad range of interesting building, construction and infrastructure projects including industrial, public infrastructure, commercial, residential and retail.

In this position, you will be exposed to a range of clients including developers, head contractors, consultants and subcontractors. There will be a mix of front end (non-contentious) and back-end (contentious) work, across 2-3 partners. An understanding of both is important.

You will need to also demonstrate a high degree of confidence, commercial acumen and ability to work with autonomy and as part of a team with both internal and external clients.You will also need demonstrated expertise in the drafting of contractual and litigation documentation and the ability to provide commercial legal advice to stakeholders across the construction industry.

You will be provided with continuous learning opportunities and will be mentored and supported as you develop your career at Piper Alderman. Your learning experience will be underpinned by an excellent CLE program, and the opportunity to build relationships within our National Projects & Construction Team and gain exposure to work across our offices in Australia.You will be motivated to learn and have a willingness to apply yourself in an environment in which measurables are realistic and your career growth is a priority.

To succeed in this role, you will ideally have:

• Admitted with circa 3 years PQE experience with a reputable construction/projects practice
• Exposure to both front end and back-end work
• An excellent academic record
