Job summary

Phillip Island Nature Parks is seeking a Ranger to plan and deliver on-ground reserve management activities across Milawul, working with Traditional Owners and volunteers to protect environmental and cultural values.

The role involves restoring habitat, maintaining trails, pest control, wildlife monitoring, and participation in fire and emergency response, with duties evolving under the Senior Ranger's guidance.

Qualifications

• Experience using small plant and equipment (brush cutter, chainsaw, chipper) and related maintenance.
• Qualifications or practical experience in environmental management, conservation, or land management.
• Current Working with Children Check, manual Victorian driver’s licence and First Aid Level 2 with CPR are required.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for engaging visitors, groups, volunteers and stakeholders.
• Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively as part of a team; adaptable with good problem-solving.

Responsibilities

• Plan for and deliver on-ground reserve management activities directed by the Senior Ranger.
• Restore habitat, maintain walking trails, pest plant and animal control, wildlife management, flora/fauna monitoring.
• Participate in fire and emergency response when required.
• Review Ranger Reserves position description for detailed duties.
• Collaborate with Traditional Owners, volunteers, contractors and stakeholders.
