Job summary

Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation in Cairns is seeking a Ranger to provide operational leadership across Queensland's protected areas.

Based in tropical North Queensland, the role involves supervising teams, coordinating projects and delivering pest, fire and visitor management initiatives.

You'll work with communities, Traditional Owners and agencies, with opportunities to lead and develop teams in remote field conditions.

Qualifications

• Experience leading teams in outdoor or land management.
• Ability to coordinate projects and manage resources.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Physically able to work in remote field conditions and climates.

Responsibilities

• Provide operational leadership across Queensland's protected areas.
• Supervise ranger teams, coordinate projects and budgets.
• Lead pest and weed control, fire management and visitor services.
• Maintain infrastructure, ensure compliance and emergency response.
• Engage with communities, Traditional Owners and government agencies.
• Prepare administrative, budgeting and reporting responsibilities.
