Join Our Team: Protect, Serve, and Make a Difference!

We are the Rural Fire Service (RFS), a dedicated community of volunteers providing fire and emergency services to approximately 95% of NSW. When you work with the RFS, you join a passionate team committed to protecting our neighbours, the wider community, and the environment from the threat of bushfires and other emergencies. With over 70,000 volunteer members and staff, we embody the spirit of mutual respect, support, friendship, and camaraderie. We are one team with many players, united by a single purpose. If you share our passion for community service and environmental protection, we want to hear from you! Become a part of our mission to safeguard lives and our cherished NSW landscapes.

What you’ll be doing:

Join a team responsible for the systems that underpin emergency response across NSW. In this role, you will work closely with the Operational Communication Centre, Districts, Brigades and partner agencies to optimise the NSW RFS Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system, ensuring critical operational data, dispatch arrangements and response settings remain accurate and effective. Through system improvements, stakeholder engagement and problem solving, you will help deliver reliable dispatch capabilities that support the safety of NSW communities.

  • The ideal candidate will have experience working with operational systems, data and processes in a dynamic service delivery environment, with knowledge of Vision 5 highly regarded.
  • You will bring strong analytical and problem-solving skills, a high level of attention to detail, and the ability to build effective relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working across operational and technical teams, you will be committed to maintaining accurate dispatch arrangements, driving continuous improvement, and supporting reliable emergency response outcomes for NSW communities.
  • Diploma in a relevant discipline, or equivalent demonstrated experience and expertise.
  • Demonstrated ability to confidently work with computer systems and operational data, including reviewing, analysing and maintaining information to support accurate, timely and effective dispatch arrangements.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to interpret and manage data to ensure response arrangements remain current, accurate and operationally effective.
  • Current Driver Licence and willingness and ability to travel as required.
  • Ability to participate in an after-hours and/or on-call roster, including supporting operational continuity during system or service disruptions.
  • During periods of heightened operational activity, you may be required to support operational management activities consistent with your skills and experience.
